Hi, I'm having two issues:
My setup is:
- old (aka current) phone with Android 7 running aCalendar+
- new phone with Android 11 running aCalendar+
- PC with Thunderbird
Main issue: Calendar not syncing:
I installed aCalendar+ on my new phone. Then I removed my old phone from the devices to be synced in the GS application on my PC and added the new phone (set to syncing both ways). In the window of this application on the PC it also says that both devices have successfully synced. However, there is still no GS calendar created/imported/visible on the phone (neither in the aCalendar+ app nor in the Google calendar app). And of course, neither have the events been synced into some other calendar. How do I get my new phone to retrieve the contacts from Thunderbird?
Btw: In the Android settings sync is globally enabled.
Side issue (not really an issue anymore, just wondering):
I copied the contacts from my old phone over to the new one. Then I imported these contacts in the GS app on my new phone into the GS address book. This is now syncing just fine. However, I'm wondering why in my contacts app I have 2 contact directories (First: phone, second: GS address book) but only the first is full of my contacts. Shouldnt be the GS address book be full with all the contacts as well, as I imported them from the phone directory?

Double-check your network connection, and ensure that there are no obvious warnings displayed in the GeneralSync app (like a banner notifying you that syncs are disabled due to wrong Android settings). Then restart the phone and try again.
If that did not help, please give me more information to better understand the situation. I assume you did the following to add the new Phone:
Install GeneralSync App on new Phone
Grant the app access to calendars and contacts when asked
Choose "Enter Pair Code" during first-start setup and entering a pair code generated on the PC (not selecting "Set up as first device: Get started")
Accept the pairing on both devices with default settings (sync everything, trust the other device)
Is that correct? If not, what did you do instead?
If there was at least one successful sync, you should now see your calendars and address books in the GeneralSync app. If you touch on them, you should see an indication that syncing to your PC is active and that synchronization towards other apps on the device is enabled. Is that the case, or are your calendars also missing in the GeneralSync app?
Side note: you do not need to remove your old phone on the PC as long as you still use it, GeneralSync can handle synchronization across multiple devices.

You should never manually copy contacts or events when you already use GeneralSync for them. That will lead to duplicates that are not part of the synchronization. Instead sync the existing address book/calendar over to the other device – you then end up with both devices accessing the same address book/calendar, as intended.
You most likely created a new, empty address book and imported into that. Once the sync works, you will thus have every contact twice (note that most contact apps will still display only one contact in most views, as contacts for the same person in different address books are displayed together).

Restarting the phone totally did the trick, thank you! I'm so stupid.. I tried restarting my PC but not the phone because I thought that this "trick" does not work or is not needed on Android systems.

I get what you are saying but the reason why I did that was the following:
I wrongly thought that the Address book in Thunderbird stopped syncing to my old phone a while ago because contacts that I newly added to my phone would not be transferred to the PC. Then I saw that this was due to the fact that newly created contacts were not "linked" to my phone AND the GS address book like all the other older ones that have been syncing. They were just linked to the phone. And I saw no way in changing this linking aka storage location in my (Oneplus) contacts app.
So I imported the contacts manually to my new phone and deleted the address book from Thunderbird because it was outdated anyways. I wanted to get Thunderbird to sync the Address book from the new phone.

Yes, exactly. I had the pre-installed address book on the phone (which was empty). Into this I imported the .vcf file that I exported from the old phone. Then I created a new address book in GS and imported the contacts from the phone address book. So now I have two address books (phone and GS) which I guess is the normal state?!
Once the sync works, you will thus have every contact twice (note that most contact apps will still display only one contact in most views, as contacts for the same person in different address books are displayed together).
That is correct, I now have the same contacts on my phone address book and in the (now syncing) GS address book but my phone only displays these entries once, so generally this is not bothering me. However, would you suggest me to delete the contacts from the phone address book?

Yes, that is normal after importing. You can keep the contacts in the phone address book if they do not bother you, just remember to save new contacts in the right one.
If you haven't done that already, however, I would recommend to delete the old GeneralSync address book that you are no longer using from the PC. That way, you can be certain to not accidentally use the wrong GeneralSync address book in the future.
