vcard

the vcard add on for ThunderBird is way better than the standard address book, can the GeneraSync add on support vcard add on instead?

I assume "the vcard add on" refers to the add-on "CardBook", a third party add-on providing a separate, second address book infrastructure synced with CardDAV servers.

CardBook is essentially a completely separate application from Thunderbird and thus not supported by the GeneralSync Add-on. There are no plans to change that. However, there are plans to add a feature allowing GeneralSync to act as local CardDAV server in order to support more applications at some point – that would also permit the use of CardBook. The plans are not concrete enough to give an ETA, though – don't hold your breath just yet. wink

However, another big change will definitively come this summer/fall: Thundebird 78 is planned to feature additional features in its address book, which will most likely permit you to access more data in GeneralSync address books as well. The downside is that Thunderbird 78 changes the add-on interface, so all add-ons need to be basically rewritten from scratch (causing a few months of full-time work for the GeneralSync add-on).
